POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to take the lead on owning the tax function within the company’s global finance department. The Tax Director will be responsible for all tax matters across our global company.  The Tax Director will report to the Corporate Controller at the Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis, MO and will manage all aspects of tax operations including global tax compliance, accounting, and reporting while partnering with our dedicated outsourced tax advisors.  In addition to corporate income taxes, this position will oversee indirect taxes and be responsible for preparing and filing associated returns and handling tax correspondence independently. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside the Corporate Controller and others within the finance department to support internal tax forecasts and external tax reporting.
  • Ensure the proper accounting and external financial reporting of taxes through the coordination and review of the co-sourced tax provision.
  • Manage all tax related data collection, compilation, and analysis of information requests from external tax advisors and auditors.
  • Lead global tax compliance workstreams while working closely with outside advisors to meet worldwide tax filing obligations.
  • Own internal controls over income tax reporting, including review of the consolidated tax provision, indefinite reinvestment assertions, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, effective tax rate and provision to return reconciliations.
  • Maintain worldwide tax account reconciliations.
  • Perform necessary tax compliance, documentation and payments for indirect taxes including VAT, GST, sales, use, property and other taxes across all jurisdictions.
  • Respond to tax notices, economic data requests, and similar governmental correspondence.
  • Maintain Avalara instance to support sales & use tax compliance.
  • Maintain and update global transfer pricing policy.
  • Expand role over time to include maintenance of inter-entity management fee documentation, inter-company debt documentation, and strategy to minimize tax leakage on repatriated cash.
  • Provide input on various strategic special projects including tax integration for newly acquired businesses.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master of Taxation is preferred.
  • Minimum five years applicable tax experience, with global tax experience preferred.
  • Public company controls/ASC 740 experience preferred, but willing to train otherwise qualified applicants.
  • Ability to transition seamlessly between preparation/data collection/documentation tasks and high-level supervisory & planning work.
  • Strong sense of accountability to deliver needed outcomes irrespective of challenges or roadblocks.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • NetSuite, Avalara experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of US Federal and State Tax Requirements.
