Location: Remote-Must be based in California
Position Overview:
Will serve as a liaison between CAL FIRE and Perimeter Solutions. During a fire, the representative will be assigned to CAL FIRE incidents. This individual will have the authority to make decisions on matters affecting CAL FIRE & Perimeter’s participation at the incident. On incident, the representative will report to the CAL FIRE Liaison Officer or to the Incident Commander in the absence of a Liaison Officer. When not on incident, the representative will be responsible to continue to cultivate and expand on the relationship between CAL FIRE and Perimeter Solutions.
Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Acts as a liaison between Perimeter Solutions and the Incident Command Staff as well as the Agency
- Attend incident meetings that include but not limited to; Operations Briefing, Cooperators Meeting and other ad hoc meeting(s) as needed or requested by agency.
- Report outcomes to leadership and employees assigned to incident(s)
- Cultivate and expand on the long-term relationship between CAL FIRE and Perimeter Solutions by fostering trust and loyalty
Additional Activities & Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee the Perimeter-Solutions Ground Applied Unit(s) that are assigned to Incidents.
- Monitor inventory of retardant materials and equipment on site needed to meet the objectives of the Incident & Operation Section Chief. Equipment can include: mixing equipment, Quality Control, water tender(s), engines, and other application equipment and apparatus
- Provide expertise to the agency personnel on the product(s), application method(s) recommendations on strategy & tactics and coverage levels.
- Help initiate conversations with agency personnel to set up trainings and prescribed burns
- Document onsite performance of Perimeter teams & sub contractors
- Ability to analyze situations and data to solve problems by planning, staffing, and reviewing that emergency and non-emergency objectives are met.
- Provide information as requested on products, SDS, environmental questions.
- Communicate with internal Perimeter-Solutions leadership on status and activity
- Continue to strengthen the relationship between Perimeter and agency
- Support agencies to meet Company or Agency Needs
- Manage records and Unit Log activities ICS Form 214, quantity of products mixed, applied, maps of application area(s), shift tickets on all equipment and personnel assigned to incident.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Previous Experience as a CAL FIRE Battalion Chief or Above
- Strike /Task Force Leader Qualification
- Prior experience as an Agency Representative on Local, State & Federal Incidents
- Understanding of the Finance/Administrative function and processes while on an incident as it pertains to hired equipment agreement/contact Emergency Equipment Rental Agreement (EERA) (CAL FIRE-294) for the ground applied operation.
- Familiar with the current CAL FIRE Hired Equipment Program
- Must possess strong people skills, the ability to cultivate strong relationships and get along with others during stressful incidents
- Demonstrate leadership skills in handling stressful conditions and resolving conflict with both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and with team as needed
- Ability to multitask while adapting to changing priorities and work assignments
- Microsoft Office Suite
Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment
- This role requires extensive travel which could be up to 80%—particularly during active fire seasons, depending on workload and incident demands
- May frequently work shifts greater than 12 hours and multiple day assignments
- May frequently work in and around the conditions of a Wildland Fire Incident
- May frequently work in remote areas
- Ability to Lift materials of 65 LBS
