POSITION OVERVIEW
The individual in the Associate Mechanical Engineer position will assist in managing drafting of models and drawings for the equipment manufacturing shop. The individuals’ main focus will be model and drawing creation.  Included in this role will be working with the Lead Engineer on Configuration Control using the ECN method for revisions.  This will involve the process of gaining approval of each drawing, then taking all the steps necessary to “Release” the drawing into configuration control.  Initially this will be utilizing our established process in Windows folders, then progressing to a Solid Works based configuration control system.  Along with this primary effort, you will assist in the design of other products which Perimeter is assuming for the fire protection equipment effort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide scheduling and maintain workload. 
• Work with all functions of SolidWorks to provide detailed fabrication and production drawings.
• Hold yourself and team members accountable to deadlines. 
• Maintain drawings in an organized fashion. 
• Work with CWI to confirm all weld procedures and symbols are accounted for and used properly
• Work with a production team to make sure drawings have data noted properly to streamline the build process
• NOTE: there a literally hundreds of drawings to be created, many of them with similar assemblies and parts to be created over a period of 1 to 2 years
• ATTENTION to Detail is a way of life in drawing preparation including input data from requirements
• Option to perform calculations using a certified ASME program for welded pressure vessels, which would lead to becoming a “Responsible Engineer” (ASME type of certification)
• Model creation and drawing preparation to ASME Y14.5.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Minimum of Associate of the Art in Mechanical Engineering related technical discipline from an accredited College or University required.  
• Desire 3 years minimum experience in drawing preparation using SolidWorks or equivalent
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) 
• Familiar with or expert in dimensioning and tolerancing, GD&T understanding, but not required on most Perimeter drawings
• Between 1-3 years of experience in a similar industry utilizing SolidWorks (or similar) to generate models and associated drawings
• Familiar with and demonstrated knowledge of creation of Bill Of Material (BOM), not SolidWorks generated, but pulling in parts not in the model to create full BOM’s
• Desire to create models and drawings on a continuing basis
• Able to utilize SolidWorks “Flat Pattern” design and use of “Configurations”
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment is desired. 
• Experience around a welding and fabrication environment is desired
• Experience with weldment detail drawings is desired
• Excellent Organization skills 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills- good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. 
• Attention to detail and time management skills are required.
