Position Overview: 
The VP of Business Development, Specialty Products, will be responsible for finding business and/or products to add to our Specialty Products platform, while assisting as needed running the Specialty Products platform or new chemistries that the company acquires.  This position will be part of the executive leadership of the Specialty Products platform and will report to the Specialty Products Platform President. 

 

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Sourcing and researching potential business acquisitions to integrate onto the Specialty Business Unit, focusing on smaller chemistries.
  • Building a strong M&A pipeline to fit the needs of the existing Specialty Products Business Unit as well as expanding the Specialty Products platform
  • Responsible for driving the due diligence process, working collaboratively with the operations, R&D, engineering, legal and finance teams.
  • Responsible for deal negotiation and execution, including negotiation of LOI, deal documents and ancillary agreements. 
  • Overseeing post-closing integration efforts and execution, including creating business and personnel plans.
  • Executing integration activities such as handling employee retention and onboarding, customer and supplier retention, IT migration, branding and sales integration.
  • Input on strategic planning for the Specialty Products platform, working in collaboration with Specialty Products Platform president
  • Assist as needed on managing existing Specialty Products business, such as helping on operational and process improvement processes, pricing strategy, productivity initiatives and customer interaction
  • Understanding and training personnel on the company’s operational driver strategy

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required
  • 5+ years’ experience in M&A – deal sourcing and execution
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information succinctly
  • Effective decision-making skills and an ability to perform under deadline pressure
  • Solid work ethic; Professional and proactive approach to work
  • Able to handle multiple priorities and changes with professional demeanor
  • Self-starter and independent worker, who is not hesitant to ask for direction when required
